The NHL runs all season and widens sharply in the playoffs. The moneyline asks only who wins, overtime and shootout included unless stated. Scoring is low and results cluster, so two decent sides often sit close in price.
The puck line is where hockey stops behaving like football: a handicap pinned at ±1.5 goals rather than one that floats. Favourites must win by a clear two; an underdog covers by losing narrowly, reaching overtime or winning. Since the handicap can't move, the price carries the adjustment — and an enormous number are settled by an empty net.
Totals use half-goal increments, ruling out a push. Period markets treat each twenty minutes as its own contest. Props cover points, assists, shots and anytime scorer — shots price steadily on ice time, while anytime scorer swings wildly.

Three downs change what a CFL number means.
We price both codes, and treating them as one sport in different jerseys is expensive. The markets look identical on the slip; the games underneath don't.
- Three attempts, not four. One fewer down to make ten yards pushes offences toward the pass and toward punting sooner, so possession turns over faster.
- A larger field, twelve a side. Space favours the offence, and totals sit above where an NFL habit would put them.
- The rouge. A single point when certain kicks aren't run out of the end zone — found nowhere else, and it injects odd numbers into scorelines built on threes and sevens.
So key numbers don't carry over. NFL margins bunch at 3 and 7 because field goals and touchdowns produce them repeatedly, making half a point valuable. Singles scatter Canadian results, so that half-point buys less.
Basketball and baseball fill out the calendar.
The NBA is the highest-scoring league we price and the most granular: half-point spreads, deep prop menus, and a pace that makes it our strongest in-play sport.
Baseball inverts it. The moneyline leads, the run line is pinned at ±1.5 like the puck line, and totals move in half-run steps. Starting pitchers carry much of the price, so depending on the market, a late scratch either voids your bet or leaves it against a replacement.
Soccer prices a third outcome, and the rest follows.
Seven competitions sit here: the Premier League and Champions League, then La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and MLS. Everything structural comes from one fact: a league match can finish level. North American markets divide probability two ways; 1X2 divides it three. Favourites price longer than a hockey equivalent, and our margin spreads across three selections rather than two, which makes it harder to spot.
The rest of the menu works around that draw. Double chance covers two outcomes for a short price. Both teams to score ignores the winner. Asian handicap removes the draw with a goal line, sometimes in quarter-goal steps that split your stake. Correct score pays long because plausible scorelines are many, goals pivot on 2.5, and goalscorer markets often void when a named player doesn't start. In a knockout tie, a bet on the match is not a bet on the tie.
Singles, multiples and systems carry the margin differently.
A single stands alone. A multiple folds several picks into one bet where every leg must land and the prices multiply. A system covers the smaller combinations inside your picks, so a partial slate still pays back.
Here's the part worth internalising: our margin lives inside each leg, so combining legs compounds it. Four selections at 1.91 multiply out near 13.3, and the edge has been charged four times over. Long multiples carry the biggest headline returns and the worst value on the board — fun for small money, until a bad week gets answered with a longer one.
Three odds formats, one number underneath.
Prices display as decimal, fractional or American, switched in account settings. Three notations, one probability.

Decimal is easiest: it contains your stake, so stake times price is the whole return, and one divided by the price gives the implied chance. Fractional quotes profit against stake, and American shows profit on a hundred-dollar stake, or the stake needed to profit a hundred.
That last step is where our income becomes visible. Price both halves of a two-way market at 1.91 and each is quoting 52.4%. Together they come to 104.8%, when a market carrying no margin would come to 100. The 4.8-point difference is the overround, charged inside the odds rather than billed afterwards. It's the betting cousin of the house edge running our live tables, and exotics carry more of it than the main lines.
In-play moves fast, and cash out has a price attached.
Markets open days before kick-off, then reprice continuously once play starts. A goal or a card reshapes the board under you, betting suspends around reviews while we reprice, and acceptance can lag, so a slip may return re-offered. Cash out closes a bet before it settles, at a figure drawn from the current market, on qualifying bets rather than everything. It buys certainty, worth something real when a multiple is down to its last leg. Now the arithmetic, which isn't opinion: that figure is a price we quote, carrying our margin a second time on top of the margin already inside your original odds. Taken systematically, cashing out returns less than letting bets run to settlement.
Betting feels like skill more than it is.
This is the difference between our board and our reels. You watched the game, you know the goaltender has been shaky — so a loss reads as bad luck while a win reads as judgement confirmed. That asymmetry is a documented pattern, not a personal flaw, and it keeps people staking through runs that would have ended a casino session.

Why do CFL and NFL numbers read differently?
Canadian football gives an offence three downs rather than four, on a longer and wider field with twelve a side, and awards a single point when certain kicks are not run out. Fewer downs mean earlier punts, the space lifts scoring, and the point scatters margins.
What does overround mean?
Turn every price in a market into the chance it implies, then add them up. Anything past one hundred per cent is our margin. Two selections quoted at 1.91 come to 104.8 per cent between them, so the overround is 4.8 points, charged inside the odds rather than billed.
Should I take a cash out offer?
Now and then, yes. As a habit, no. The figure we quote is a price rather than a neutral valuation, carrying our margin a second time on top of the one already inside your original odds. Across many bets, cashing out returns less than leaving them to settle.
Are long parlays worth the stake?
They hold the worst expected value on the board. Our margin sits in every leg and compounds as legs are added, so a six-fold pays it six times over. The headline return looks enormous precisely because the true chance is small — entertainment, never a recovery plan.
